Restart

I can't love you from such a vulnerable place. You say yes to me and my life is amazing. You say no and I'm crushed."

You are the best thing that ever happened to me。

I long to take my heart back and be free
I am trying too hard to put you from my mind
However there will never be a day when I won't think of you:
Think of all the things we've shared and seen
Think about the things which might have been
Think of the things we'll never do

All I ask of You分别从他、她、他的口中唱出,两情相悦的幸福和爱而不得的伤痛在心中交替,我想起的,依然是你:

I love you every waking moment
I need you with me now and always
I want you here beside me to hold me
I long to share with you one love one lifetime
Share each day with you, each night, each morning
Lead me from my solitude
Anywhere you go let me go too
That's all I ask of you

Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,我却彷佛听到你在烈日青烟、簌簌叶响、阵阵蝉鸣的墓园中低吟:

Too many years
Fighting back tears
Why can't the past just die?

Try to forgive, teach me to live
Give me the strength to try

No more silent tears
No more gazing across the wasted years
Help me say goodbye

当The Point of No Return将气氛推向高潮,我的思绪不可避免得飘向了18年前......

Pass the point of no return
No backward glances
The games we played till now are at an end
Past all the thought of "if" or "when"
No use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend

What raging fire shall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlock its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us?

Pass the point of no return
The final threshold
What warm unspoken secrets will we learn?
Beyond the point of no return

You have brought me
To that moment when words run dry
To that moment when speech disappears
Into silence
Silence

Pass the point of no return
No going back now
Our passion-play has now, at last, begun
Past all thought of right or wrong

Say you'll share with me
One love, One lifetime
Lead me, save me from my solitude
Say you want me with you here beside you
Anywhere you go, let me go too
That's all I ask of

当然,对原著,有可能too early to say so。

I carry your heart with me

I carry your heart with me

I carry it in my heart

I am never without it

Anywhere I go you go, my dear;

And whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling

I fear no fate

For you are my fate, my sweet

I want no world

For beautiful you are my world, my true

And it’s you are whatever a moan has always meant

And whatever a song will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows

Here is the root of the root

And the bud of the bud

And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;

Which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide

And this is the wonder that’s keeping the starts apart

I carry your heart

I carry it in my heart

Who knows what the tide could bring - Cast Away

Stay alive, keep breathing,Because tomorrow the sun will rise, and who knows what the tide could bring.

Forbidden Love

失去后,你又如何live with,又如何move on呢?

Life goes on.

Life goes on.

Life goes on.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

"It's dark now, but they feel each other's breath, and they know all they need to know, they kiss, and they feel each other's tears on their cheeks. And if there had been anybody left to see them, then they would look like normal lovers, caressing each other's faces, bodies close together, eyes closed, oblivious to the world around them, because that is how life goes on. Like that."

You see, Life still goes on.

若 —— 《If Only》

...

If only I had known in the first place...
If only I had said the right words in the right time...
If only I could have changed what happened...
If only I could have had a little more time...
If only I could take my heart back...
If only I could know how to quit you...

...

If You Happen to Pass By... ——《84, Charing Cross Road》

It is said to be a bible of book lover. I just don't get it. Though I do share the passion for books with Helene Hanff, touched by the relationship between the reserved English gentleman and the witty extrovert American woman, moved by the affections and generosity across the ocean and times.

There's already plenty of reviews on this book and movie, I have no intention to add more except for the very private thought evoked by the trivial details.

...

In one of her letters, she complained to Frank his failure to get her wanted book in time, which resulted that she had to write margin notes in library books that don't belong to her. At that moment, something flashed in from the back of my mind. You once mentioned to me the punishment to a little boy for his doodles in library books, well, you might think my silence was uncaring, what you didn't know was that I was ashamed at your words of my selfish behaviors too. Sometimes I did exactly the same thing. I usually like to read the second-hand books just because I can spot previous readers' notes somewhere surprisingly. It seems to add some personal flavor into the lifeless book, which convert the book to a sort of dialogue and no longer be a monologue. I wanted to protest for him and myself, but I didn't. Because I knew it was a vandalism, because I cautiously avoided self-justification, because I wanted to be good in your eyes, because I hoped to match your standards...

...

There's a difference between the book and movie. In movie, Helene finally made it. Standing in the empty bookstore, looking through the memory, she whispered to Frank:"I'm here, finally..." In book, she simply appealed to her friend:"If you happen to pass by 84, Charing Cross Road, Kiss it for me? I owe it so much."

Everytime, at the sight of the landmarks of this city, I’m trembling at craving. I have dreamd about it for so long time, walking through the parks, hand in hand with you, sitting around the streets, sipping coffee and chitchatting with you, visiting all kinds of bookstores, rummaging through the books shoulder by shoulder with you...

" My beloved, I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams."

I relive my dreams, I close my eyes and wonder if everything is as hollow as it feels...

An Extraordinary Journey of Imagery —— 《How Art Made the World》

This five-part series "How Art Made the World" is very intriguing, to me, it is like taking an fascinating journey with an excellent guide. It amazingly offers a glimpse into the epic story of how mankind was driven to create images, help me comprehend mankind's unique capacity tounderstand and explain the world through artistic symbols, and reveals some crucial points in understanding how art and mankind helped to shape each other. Each episode seeks to answer one key question through examinations of some exquisite artifacts.

Why did the unrealistic images of human body dominate the art? - More Human than Human

  1. Normadic People exaggerated style can be explained by "peak shift" theory: In essence mankind's brain is hard-wired to focus upon parts of objects with pleasing associations, same as seagull's instinct.
  2. The rigid style of Egyptian images were driven by their obsession with order and precision. Egyptian oppressed the hard-wired tendency to match their grim system.
  3. The perfection but anatomically impossible style of Greek statue reveal that we human don't like the reality because the reality is boring. Our biologically instinct prefer the exaggerated images, and what we exaggerate changes over time.

The answer is:The culture is king. The society we live in, the value we create for our society, these are the cornerstone how we depict human body.

Why did people invent images of the world around them? - The Day Pictures Were Born

The following 2 explainations failed to answer this question:

  1. To create representations of things in the world around them
  2. To increae the chances of a successful hunting

The real answer lies in hallucinations in trance state: Sensory deprivation resulted in powerful hallucinations, which lead to prehistoric artists felt compelled to paint them on the walls. They were simply nailing down their visions.

How did the power of image come to be used as a political tool? - The Art of Persuasion

  • Personal adornment enhanced the leader's status
  • Political logo helped to spread kingly messages across the empire with many disparate conquered people to rule
  • Art is used as a tool of political promotion, sometimes, even an instrument of mass deception.

Where did the ingredients of visual storytelling come from? - Once Upon A Time

  1. A hero: the tale of Gilgamesh
  2. A storyline: An ambitious King in Assyria
  3. Emotion: Greek
  4. Music: Australian Aborigines

Why do human surround themselves with death images? - To Death and Back

When facing the inevitability of death, the images of death try:
  1. To provide reassurance to us
  2. To terrify us

最后,看着长长的片单——Poseidon, Deep Imapct, Dante's Peak, The Towering Inferno, The Day after tomorrow, The Independent Day, Perfect Storm, Vertical limit, Volcano, etc——叹口气:还是老片好看。

If You Knew —— 《My Sister's Keeper》

If you knew......

Something in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's something in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, because I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much
......

If you knew something would last longer than you thought they would.
If you knew......

Stages of Grief —— Grey's Anatomy S06E01

My favorite show "Grey's Anatomy" is coming back, which might decorate the thick cloud in my sky with a tiny silver lining. Looking back, it has accompanied me going through 2 autumns -- 2 melancholy seasons. Looking forward, it will help me to go through another one, as I wish.

The premiere show of this new season talks about the 5 stages of grief. I saw how my "virtual" friends went through the five stages of grief over a span of 40 days. I was touched, and couldn't help but thinking which stage I've been and how I deal with the grief in my own way.

According to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the 5 stages are:
  1. Denial
  2. Anger
  3. Bargain
  4. Depression
  5. Acceptance
I had been through all these 5 stages last year, starting with denial from last June, ending with acceptance in last December. Ironically, just when I thought it would be like that forever, a new circle start over from the begining of this year. This time, the loss is even huger, the sorrow is even sharper, the pain is more unbearable, the despair is more severe, the struggle is even harder......

Now, where am I? Can I finally reach the ultimate stage?

类似的话,Mark Twain也曾说过:“Of all the animals, man is the only one that is cruel. He is the only one that inflicts pain for the pleasure of doing it."

When you look long into the abyss, the abyss looks into you. (Nietzsche) ——

The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. (Joseph Conrad) ——

when love is in excess, it brings a man no honor nor worthiness.

Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors.Try to be better than yourself.(Faulkner )——

Don't forget that I cannot see myself, that my role is limited to being the one who looks in the mirror.( Jacques Rigaut) ——

Unfortunately, a super-abundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for nightmares。(Peter Ustinov)——

What it is food for ones, for others are poison bitter taste. (Lucrécio)——

I object to violence, because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary. The evil it does is permanent. (Gandhi )——

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you,the less you know. (Diane Arbus)——

We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves. (Francois de la )——

Whoever sets himself up as judge in the field of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods。(Albert einstein )——

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. (George Orwell)——

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars. (Khalil Gibran )——

The basis of shame is not some personal mistake of ours, but that this humiliation is seen by everyone. (Milan kundera)——

Almost all absurdity of conduct arises from the imitation of those whom we can't resemble. (Samuel Johnson )——

The irrationality of a thing is not an argument against. It's existence, rather, a condition of it. (Nietzsche) ——

Ideologies separate us. Dreams and anguish bring us together。(Eugene Ionesco) ——

Measure not the work until the day’s out and the labor done. (Elizabeth Barrett Browning)——

In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. (Abraham Lincoln)

It is whose we live with and love, and should know who loot us. (Norman McClain)

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe。(Nietzsche) ——

The bitterest tear shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone. (Harriet Beecher Stowe) ——

How secret deeps, How secret become dark, that's in the nature of secrets. ( Cory Doctorow) ——

The defects and faults of the mind are like wounds in the body. After all imaginable care has been taken to heal them up, still there will be a scar left behind.(Francois La Rochefoucauld)——思想上的缺陷和弱点,正如身体上的创伤一样,就算用尽一切办法将其治愈,仍然会留下疤痕。

It has been said that time heals all wounds. I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue, and the pain lessens, but it is never gone.(Rose Kennedy) —— 人们都说时间可以治愈一切伤口,我可不这么认为。

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth. (Oscar Wilde)——

The ultimate choice for a man, in as much as he is driven to transcend himself, is to create or to destroy, to love or to hate. (Erich Fromm)——

In order to learn the most important lessons of life, one must each day surmount a fear.(Ralph Waldo Emerson) ——

From the deepest desires often come the deadliest hate. (Socrates)——

The lives of the dead are recorded in the minds of the living. (Cicero)——

Tragedy is a tool for the living to gain wisdom. Not a guide by which to live. (Robert Kennedy)——

The torture of a bad conscience is the hell of a living soul. (John Calvin)——

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. (Gandhi)——

Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles. (Charles Chaplin)——

Biggest Day —— Grey's Anatomy S05E22

You used to say, I'm the audience that Hollywood would prefer to have, coz I'm touched and moved by the cliche they tell from time to time. Well, I laughed and felt a bit shy at your comment, but not shame. Because I know you are right, and because I know I'm soft inside indeed.

You called, as I expected. And it was a short talk, very briefly, to my surprise. I could sense there was something wrong. I'm afraid you are already sensing what I'm going to say, what I'm not ready to say, what I'm afraid to say, what I'm still hestiating to say...... No matter how many times I have told myself I'v made my mind, I'm always getting cold feet when I'm listening to your voice.

It drives me into wild awake, and a palpitating heart. I'm also worrying about your migraine, your healthy. But what am I supposed to say? I can't do anything, anything at all except for asking. I can't help you, soothe you, hold you, be with you when you are in pain..... If I can't do anything, I choose to be silent, even it make me look indifferent. You know me, somehow, don't you?

I choose to see Grey's Anatomy again, to kill the void time, endlessly lonely night. I let my mind wander around you, always you. One sentence drew my attention suddenly:

When you love someone, you know, love is love. It doesn't matter that you're not supposed to be together.

You see, that's why it touch me somewhere in my heart. Trivia, but, real. Cliched, but, still moving.
